History

Wine cellars owned by company VINARIA were built by monks from Zabrdovice monastery at the end of 17th century when Zabrdovice monastery solved a very hard situation with its Brno and Sour Moravia wine and wine churchshot storage. Building works on the cellars and granary started at the beginning of 80s in the 17th century on the hillock over the river Svitava. At the level of the street there was a portal with entrance into the huge bricked cellars at a depth of 11 meters.

Cellars were within is history intensively used and its owners changed quite often. In 1942 cellars were owned by German Empire. Later on the origin place of granary and weigh office only baroque wine cellars stayed.

Between years 1950 and 1989 property was owned by the state and cellars were used by different wine plants. After 1992 production expired and basement was for the first time of its existence unused.
